Enjoying the Day

Memorial Day was a fun day for the Dooner Family. We went to Pinkerton Park in the morning. Jax loved swinging and playing on the slides. He saw lots of doggies. After our trip to the park we had lunch at home and enjoyed a relaxing afternoon. Our casual dinner consisted of yummy burgers from the grill, corn on the cob and tater tots. Jax got to sit in his new Mickey Mouse chair while we dined on our deck. It was a fun evening.

Although Jax is too young to understand the true meaning of Memorial Day, John and I discussed ways to begin teaching him. We want him to understand the importance of the day and to know that it's not "just a day off for Daddy". We are grateful for all of the men and women that have served and are serving in our military to protect our country.

Just Mom and Me

Yesterday, my mom and I enjoyed a girls' day out. We started with a delicious lunch at J. Alexanders with us both enjoying soup and salad along with salsa and chips. After lunch we went to my new favorite spa for a little pampering. We had the most relaxing manicure along with a hot foot soak. I almost fell asleep which has never happened during a manicure. It was fantastic. Next up - pedicures and massages. Thanks mom for a fun day! Hope you enjoyed your Mother's Day treat.

Jax and Tyler - just chillin'

We had the most wonderful time dog sitting for my brother Jay while he enjoyed a Caribbean cruise last week. Tyler and Scruffy stayed with us for about six days and had the best time playing with CoCo and Jax. This was Tyler's first time to stay with us so it took him a little while to adjust to his surroundings. Jax loved rolling around in the floor with them. He also helped them eat and always made sure they had water. It was a fun week. Come back soon - Tyler and Scruffy!

Mother's Day

What a special day! I'm so lucky to be called mom by such a beautiful baby boy. A true blessing from God. My boys took me out for a tasty lunch at Friday's after church. My sweet baby Jax gave me a 90 minute Swedish massage gift card along with a calming shoulder wrap - it is fantastic (a few minutes in the microwave and I just sit back and relax.) I'm looking forward to enjoying my massage very soon. Thanks, Honey for helping Jax choose the perfect gift for mommy.We then spent a lazy afternoon at home anticipating a visit from Mema and Granddaddy. We enjoyed a light dessert of strawberry shortcake and pineapple punch when they arrived. Of course, Jax was thrilled to see them as always. For dinner we grabbed a quick pizza and watched the finale of "Celebrity Apprentice." Love that show!It was truly a perfect day because I was surrounded by people that I love. I am so blessed.

My wonderful husband celebrated his birthday on May 5. (Yes - I'm a little behind in my postings.) Jax and I decorated with balloons and banners and baked him a cake while he was at work. Jax loves balloons so he had fun playing with them all day. My hubby loves presents so he opened them as soon as he got home. We had planned to go out to dinner but my hubby was a little tired so we ordered his favorite pizza from Jet's Pizza and enjoyed time at home. On Saturday we went to Molinari's in Cool Springs for his "official" birthday dinner. It is a small Italian restaurant that serves the most delicious food. It was nice to go out as a family. John and I usually go out to dinner alone so it was fun having Jax come along. Happy Birthday, Husby! I hope you enjoyed your "birthday week."
